This Code of Conduct and Ethical Leadership Standards establishes the ethical and behavioural framework governing all members of Global Community Transformation (GCT) across all membership categories. Its purpose is to uphold institutional integrity, promote respectful engagement, and ensure that GCT's activities and public representation reflect its foundational values.
This Code applies to all GCT members and affiliated participants across all regions in which GCT operates. It applies to institutional activities, events and convenings, digital communications, public representation, and all contexts in which GCT membership or affiliation is relevant. As an intercontinental institution, GCT promotes consistent ethical standards across its international engagements while respecting the legal and cultural contexts of different regions.
All GCT members are expected to uphold the following principles in their conduct and institutional engagement:
- Integrity: Acting with honesty, responsibility, and consistency in personal and institutional conduct
- Respect for Human Dignity: Treating all individuals with fairness, dignity, and respect regardless of nationality, culture, religion, gender, age, or background
- Cultural Respect & Sensitivity: Demonstrating awareness, appreciation, and respect for cultural diversity in intercultural engagement
- Accountability: Taking responsibility for personal conduct and its impact on the wider GCT community and institutional environment
- Impartiality: Approaching institutional matters fairly and responsibly without discrimination, bias, or inappropriate political partisanship
- Excellence: Contributing to GCT activities and programmes with professionalism, care, and commitment to high standards
GCT members are expected to maintain respectful, responsible, and professional conduct in all GCT-related engagements. Members are expected to:
- Communicate respectfully and constructively with fellow members, partners, and institutional bodies
- Refrain from harassment, intimidation, discrimination, or abusive conduct in any form
- Avoid conduct that is intentionally divisive, inflammatory, or incompatible with GCT's values
- Refrain from corruption, fraudulent activity, or misuse of institutional platforms
- Avoid promoting hatred, violence, or discrimination against individuals or communities
- Conduct themselves with professionalism and dignity during institutional activities and public engagements
Members representing GCT in public, academic, media, diplomatic, or institutional settings are expected to uphold responsible and accurate representation of the organisation. Members shall:
- Communicate institutional information accurately and responsibly
- Distinguish clearly between personal opinions and official GCT positions
- Avoid unauthorised representation of GCT in any context
- Uphold the institution's non-partisan and diplomatically balanced approach
- Report misuse of GCT's identity, name, or institutional affiliation to the Secretariat
Official representation on behalf of GCT may only be conducted with appropriate institutional authorisation.
Members are expected to avoid situations in which personal, financial, political, or institutional interests may improperly influence their responsibilities within GCT. Members should:
- Disclose relevant conflicts of interest where appropriate
- Refrain from participating in decisions where impartiality may be compromised
- Avoid using GCT affiliation for improper personal, commercial, or political advantage
- Disclose affiliations that may create significant institutional incompatibility
Members entrusted with confidential institutional information are expected to protect such information responsibly and professionally. Confidential information may include governance discussions, member information, institutional planning, partnership discussions, and other non-public materials. Members shall:
- Avoid unauthorised disclosure of confidential information
- Exercise responsible handling of institutional materials
- Report any known or suspected breach of confidentiality to the appropriate institutional authority
Responsibilities relating to confidentiality may continue beyond the duration of membership where applicable.
The standards outlined in this Code apply equally to digital communication and online engagement. Members are expected to:
- Communicate responsibly and respectfully in digital spaces
- Avoid sharing content inconsistent with GCT's values and institutional standards
- Refrain from presenting personal opinions as official GCT positions without authorisation
- Protect confidential information in digital environments
- Report misuse of GCT's identity, platforms, or intellectual property where identified
Constructive and respectful online engagement is expected across institutional and public digital interactions.
GCT is committed to maintaining a respectful, safe, and accountable institutional environment. Members who witness or experience conduct inconsistent with this Code are encouraged to report concerns through the appropriate institutional channels. Reports submitted to GCT will be:
- Handled with appropriate discretion
- Reviewed fairly and responsibly
- Assessed through relevant institutional procedures
Retaliation against individuals reporting concerns in good faith is inconsistent with GCT's ethical standards. For institutional concerns, members may contact GCT through the Contact page at www.gct-int.org
Concerns relating to potential violations of this Code may be reviewed through appropriate institutional procedures. Depending on the nature and seriousness of the matter, institutional responses may include:
- Advisory guidance
- Formal notice
- Temporary suspension of participation or membership privileges
- Termination of membership
- Referral to relevant legal authorities where required by applicable law
Institutional reviews shall be conducted fairly, responsibly, and proportionately.
By accepting membership within GCT, members affirm their commitment to uphold the institution's values, ethical standards, and principles of responsible engagement.
